About Janell

I’m completely normal for a person who knits. All I want to do is buy yarn, knit things, read books about knitting, surf knitting sites, go to classes about knitting, and hang out with knitters. Is that so much to ask?! I don’t think so.

As a pre-teen I learned to crochet at a church-type-thing, and I did a few blankets over the years. But knitting frightened me. That looked scary!! Then a sis-in-law started knitting obsessively, and taught me to make a scarf. So I made scarves…but they kept rolling up. It was me of course, I could not knit. So I quit. Then DD started knitting and I tried again. I likee!

The most fun part is, Chantel is just like me.  We plan out our week around which nights we can get together to knit and watch something.  She’ll text me sometimes in the middle of the day saying, “Can you come home and knit now?” It’s the best thing ever. I highly recommend having a daughter and making sure she likes what you like. Highly entertaining!

So now I find myself thinking about knitting every minute I’m not actually doing it. I’ve never felt this way about something. I have knit entire days away and been disappointed when it’s bedtime. The more I read about knitters, the more I find this is pretty normal. So guess what? I’m in. Absolutely. All in. All the time.

About Chantel

Hi! Hey. My name is Chantel, and I am a little bit obsessed on knitting. My hobbies include looking at things on the internet and thinking that I want to knit them, knitting mittens, falling asleep with knitting in my hands, buying yarn, and reading.

While I was in high school my family’s house caught on fire! Okay, not really. I mean, there was a fire, but the house was pretty much okay. Anyway, for a few weeks, during the repairs, my family stayed with my aunt and uncle in a different city, and I was bored out of my mind hanging out in their basement all day. So I had my mom teach me how to crochet. A few years later in college, I decided I wanted to learn how to knit, so my roommates and I went to Wal-Mart and bought needles and yarn, and I have never looked back.

Since then, I have really grown to appreciate knitting. I love that I bought a new coat, thought to myself, “How cool would some bright red mittens be with this,” sitting down with some DPNs and a good tv show, and making myself a pair or bright red mittens.

I mostly spend my weekends now knitting and making dirty jokes about the Winchester brothers with my mom, Janell. She’s my partner in knitting crime.
